Fuze V2 build 3.8 PHOTOS
« on: March 04, 2011, 03:11:12 PM »
Newbie Appreciates Clarification:
The Sansa Fuze V2 had a function to display photos and I have a directory of photos on my machine. But I do not find any way to display them from RB. Am I to assume that these can only be displayed if I boot into the Sansa software and display there? Just guessing as I've not found this addressed anywhere but the functionality of RB is limited to:
1. playing music: mp3's and all, with database functionality
2. Recording:
3. FM Radio (IF you have the fm radio plugin. Seriously doubt you can play FM on mine as there is no radio card ;D )

So, no video and no photos? Is this correct? Not knocking just want to define what I'm working with. Otherwise I appreciate RB's ability.
thanks
J.

Thanks, that answers one part of the question. But as I don't find "image viewer" under plugins on the main menu of the sansa V 3.8 and no reference to where to download it. How do I get a copy?

But definitely thanks as at least I now know such a thing exists.

ok, so I read "Viewers are plugins which are associated with specific file extensions. They cannot be run directly but are started by “playing” the associated file. Viewers are stored in the /.rockbox/rocks/viewers/ directory" Interesting but I go in through files->PHOTO->My_Albums and find nothing though this is where I find the photos when I go in through the Sansa software. Perhaps my problem is that the SANSA filesystem isn't being read properly by RB. It does find the mp3's which are all on my sdhc but it's not showing anything on the internal memory "/".

Were the files added in MSC mode?  If you added them in MTP mode then they can end up in a not-obvious location.

Are music files stored in internal memory showing up in the database?

Yes, my main box is Suse/Linux and in order for the Sansa to be seen it has to be in MSC mode. But I believe you are referring to the photos? But in any case the device was in MSC mode and the directory /PHOTO/My_Album can be seen.

I have no music files in main memory. I decided early on to keep my music on the removable sdhc chip "/MUSIC/Music". But the photos are in main memory. Perhaps I should experiment and copy them from main memory to the sdhc.

Are there tricks/requirements that files be added in some order or the other?

Ok, that was what I needed. Shows what making assumptions will get you into. I found "show files" and set it to all. Perhaps I should have selected "supported" but anyway I can now see the .bmp's that the old Sansa software required.

thanks

You sure about that? I've got the Sansa Fuze 8GB with (from the SANSA software) Version V02.03.33A

And when selecting "Slot Radio" under the old software it directs me to a URL, i.e. no such functionality unless a card is inserted into the sdhc slot.

slotRadio and FM Radio are two entirely different things.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Agreed. I just never use either one.
BTW, I have also learned, the hard way that photos are 16 bit. bmp seems to work well enough. But I'm trying to locate some definition of the sizes permitted on the 2.5 in screen. Looks like 250 x 175 pixels works part of the time. Anyone run into a SANSA document describing the screen limitation?
thanks
