I am a novice Rockbox user .The database issue arose after putting on 3.8 .I removed all files ,did a reformat ,reinstalled 3.8,put music back on external drive. & it was as before !A mystery. I still get a hiss ,background hiss on some 24 bit flac .The Beatles 24 bit is ok .Another mystery .They play ok in MediaMonkey. Great firmware thanks to all the experts involved . Need a good source for other suitable players , to experiment.Any suggestions for good second hand souces ? I am in Australia.Ebay has plenty of old worn out Ipods but is there a specialist outlet ?

i have the same (doesn't terminate generating database) problem on 3.8 stable.
I try nights_build 29625, 29626, 29630 but they don't recognize external flash card (16Gb) only internal memory (8Gb).

What happens if you insert the card after its booted?
deaf_bear:
i don't try this.
But I specially install r29625 now again and do all that you suggested.
I do this:
1) install rockbox
Manufacturer: as3525
Version: r29625-110320
2) boot it and go to "System-Rockbox info"
See that HD1: not present (Although it is)
3) take out mSD from player
4) Put in mSD to player and go to "System-Rockbox info"
See that HD1: 56.3MB/14.9Gb
yahoo! ;D
BUT then i reboot player and HD1 disappear again.
So strange, each time when turn on player i need to do "take out-put in" SD card from it.
It seems that automount of external flash not working at boot.
P.S. when I do this steps when rockbox info sreen is active - player hangs up.
i'm sorry my english isn't very well :)
