Does Rockbox work on SSD/CF modded iPods?

If the original firmware works, then Rockbox *should* work as well, and if not this is a bug; but we likely can't fix it without being able to try various changes on the device in question, so, until someone who knows how the Rockbox code works, and how ATA works, has one of these devices in their hands it's unlikely to be resolved.
I updated our ATA code to support drives with large physical sectors some time ago, and this resolved issues with a large class of rotating disks; presumably the SSDs are objecting to some setup we are doing or have other requirements that we don't know about.

Are you willing to receive a loan mSATA SSD drive (with the adapter) and look into the issues?
Thanks

Yes, though it would be easier if someone sent me an entire modded player (that already works in the Apple firmware) so I don't have to take mine apart (my ipodvideo is my main mp3 player) :)
I live in the UK, but I am on vacation in the US for the next four weeks. So, if someone is willing to send one to me, drop me an email (torne@wolfpuppy.org.uk) - if you're in the US and you're quick, you can probably ship it to somewhere I'm gonna be while I'm over there, otherwise you'd have to post it to the UK.
If that's too far to ship then there are probably other Rockbox developers who may be closer who might be willing to have a look: tell us where you are and we'll see what we can do. :)

Thank you for your willingness to help on resolving the issue. It will be greatly appreciated by the community including myself. I personally have not tried the mSATA but I know there are three head-hier's who have tried with the same Rockbox issue. Let's see if any one of them will be sending you the ipod with the mSATA SSD drive. If not, I personally may get one for you to study the issue. Thanks again.

Hi torne,
It's my understanding you are in the process of receiving an iPod with the mSATA SSD drive from a head-fi'er to examine the issue with Rockbox. Would appreciate if you can update this thread on the issue when resolved.
Thanks for your effort.
