Does Rockbox work on SSD/CF modded iPods?

(1/3) > >>

FireKeeper:
As I know, most CF modded iPods work well with RB, but SSD modded iP owners experienced problems (errors at installation).
Does anyone knows, that this problem still exist? (I mean SSD modded iPod versus Rockbox, incompatibility)
Sorry, if this queston appeared erlier in an other topic, and for the bad english.

scharkalvin:
If you can install the SSD to replace the ipod's HD and then recover it as an iPod (under iTunes you should be able to initialize the iPod with SSD) then it should also work with rockbox.  If you can't initialize the iPod under iTunes, then probably not.  You might need to first format the SSD with a FAT file system, or clean out its' partition table.

FireKeeper:
Yeah, i know, that it should work, just don't know exactly. Memebers in the head-fi forum get ATA error codes at the installation if they tried with SSD, and didn't experienced any problems, if SSD is switched to CF card, or back to hard drive.

torne:
Anything that can be recovered with iTunes and then work with the original firmware *should* work with Rockbox. If you find an exception to this then let us know and we'll try and fix it (in fact if I have time *I* will try and fix it). The only thing we explicitly don't support is disks that the original firmware can't even boot from.

FireKeeper:
Thank you for this superior support!
