Repeated pauses playing .APE files on H120

(1/1)

Randius:
I just acquired a used H120 and tested it with 320kbps MP3 file and it seems to be working just fine. I followed by installing rockbox 3.7.1 with the US 1.66 hex file onto it. When I tried playing APE files, every track will play back for about 3 seconds and "pause" for about 2 seconds continuously. Changing the disk spindown time and anti-skip buffer did not resolve the issue nor changes the play-pause time pattern.

Take a look at this wiki page:

The compression mode used may make the files unplayable.

AlexP:
APE is a ridiculously high CPU format, and the H120 isn't fast enough to decode higher compression levels in real time.  Transcode to flac or wavpack.
