Ipod always mounts as read-only (Arch Linux)

Hallo all,

I have an Ipod Video (I think it's a 5.5 Gen because it's 80 gigs) that I got a few months ago. It worked flawlessly for a long time, easily copying music from my computer to it. But now it mounts as read only and no matter what I do, I cannot write to it, not even as a root user. According to my file manager it is owned by my user and it can be written to, but it errors whenever I try to modify a playlist file.

When I run chmod 777 on it, it gives me this: chmod: changing permissions of `/media/IPOD_': Read-only file system

I had this problem before and I re-installed Rockbox (have version 3.7.1) to fix it, but now it's come back again. I don't know if it's an issue with how my Linux is setup, since I recently upgraded to a 64bit CPU and did a reinstall.

Not sure what information I can provide otherwise, but let me know if there's anything else.

Read only in linux usually means the file system is corrupted and needs to be repaired before you can write to it.
