has anyone tried the install procedure from there ?

--- Quote ---    * Download and extract [1].
    * Make sure iTunes isn't running (preferably not even installed) and connect your iPod.
    * Press and hold Menu+Select for between 10 and 15 seconds. The iPod should start to reboot after the first 5 seconds and seem to power off (display stays dark) at 10 seconds. It's now in DFU mode.
    * If a "new hardware found" wizard pops up, point it to the winusb.inf file.
    * If iTunes is installed, you may need to force it to use the WinUSB driver in the Device Manager. Use the "Update driver" option on the DFU device and explicitly point it at the winusb.inf file.
    * If you don't have any other WinUSB drivers installed (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\winusb.sys doesn't exist), you might need to use the driver package from [2] instead, which contains some more files.
    * Run UMSbootiPodClassic.exe. (You need to have the Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 or later installed)
    * Your iPod should power on the screen and ask you for a *.ubi file.
    * A new drive should be detected. Copy installer-classic.ubi to it, safely eject and unplug it.
    * Follow the on-screen instructions.

Simple: is yours thick or thin? If it's thin, you should be able to run Rockbox. If it's thick, then you won't be able to.

The reason for this is simple: the thick 160GB models have a hard drive with a different type of connector for which there is no driver in Rockbox.

so i testet it on Apple Website

iPod classic 160GB (Late 2009)
MEID: IMEI: Serial number: 8K048TRY9ZU

check its the thin model ....

will there be an Rockbox Port soon or are there no chances at all ?

so i may try this on the thin model ?

i can go back to Ipod Original Soft easily by restoring in Itunes
or can i break the device ?
