"Clear The Backdrop" theme setting?

I thought I had asked this before (years ago) but I couldn't find the thread, nor could I find a similar thread.

Is there a valid way to set the backdrop to "no bitmap"? I have a theme that I don't want a backdrop bitmap, but if I leave the backdrop line out of the theme file, the backdrop from the previous theme is still set.

I put this line in the cfg:

backdrop:

and it worked. It cleared the backdrop and the theme works wonderfully. However, when I try to upload the theme, the site complains that "The file from the setting 'backdrop' doesnt exist."

Which, while true, doesn't help me

Is there a way to do what I want to do?

A single hyphen is how we represent "no value" for settings that specify a path or other arbitrary text, for future reference, so the same works for any setting like that.
