Which player can I put an 80G HDD from my modded zune into for Rockbox?
« on: February 15, 2011, 12:33:23 AM »
I am very frustrated that the Zune that I have is still so closed source, and don't have options for open source. It was given to me by my wife years ago, starting as a 30G version, but I converted it to an 80G HDD long before the bigger drives came out. I hate to waste the drive, and now the motherboard has gone south, only playing out of one channel. I was wondering if someone on this forum might have a recommendation of a player that I could use the HDD from my zune with, and then convert over to Rockbox. I sure would appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

Have a look at this page: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/Main/HardDriveReplacement

According to some notes on that page, people seem to have had trouble with the Toshiba MK1231GAL (not sure what drive you have).

There's still no logical reason *why* anyone should have trouble with it, so if you do happen to have one then we'd like to help resolve that issue ;)

now the motherboard has gone south, only playing out of one channel.

That's more likely to be the headphone socket than the motherboard, I'd say, so perhaps it can be easily and cheaply fixed?
