iPod software brick

(1/1)

jstraw:
I installed Rockbox with iLoader on my iPod classic 160GB slim. It worked fine for a day, and then Rockbox crashed and every time I attempt to boot up Rockbox, I get the following message:

Data abort
at 00000024
FSR 0xF7
(domain 15, fault 7)
address 0xFFFFFFFC

I can still access iLoader, emBIOS, and UMSboot just fine, but I cannot figure out how to access my iPod's hard drive. When I put the iPod in DFU mode and connect it to iTunes in an attempt to restore it, iTunes gives me the following message:

"The iPod software update server could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes."

I've tried every solution I can find on Google and have (of course) tried updating iTunes, which simply tells me that it's already up to date.

I need to either be able to access Rockbox, restore my iPod's firmware to official Apple software, or mount my iPod's hard drive so that I can play with the configuration files. I'm at my wit's end here any any help would be greatly appreciated.

There might be an obvious solution to this that I'm missing; I'm pretty new to iPod hacking. Thanks in advance for your help.
Post Merge: February 13, 2011, 09:35:03 PMOkay, I've discovered that the problem is with the iPod's database, and if I can remove that, it should work again.

Does anyone know how to set up the emBIOS console on a Windows computer? I've had no luck, with repeated "No emBIOS device found!" messages even after installing libusb, pyusb, python, and embios.py.

Also, what compilers are used to create .ubi files in case I need to write a bootable program to help my situation?

LambdaCalculus:
iLoader, emBIOS, and UMSboot are all software from the freemyipod team, and it's best that you ask them directly about those. They can give you the answers you need.

The only thing they really have to do with Rockbox is that they're needed to get Rockbox to boot for the time being while a better solution is worked on.
