I uninstalled Rockbox, and restored to Gigabeat ver 3 firmware, currently copying all music files to desktop hard drive. Then I will reinstall Rockbox, and then I copy the above saved mp3 and wma files on my desktop over the .sat files in the Gigabeat music folder, correct?  Or delete the Music folder on the Rockbox / Gigabeat first, then paste the saved mp3 / wma  music folder in its place.  I have used up 9.5gb of the 10gb Gigabeat drive, so no room to have 2 folders- one with .sat files and the other mp3.

On my first install of Rockbox, the Database folder did load up with many songs that would play from there.  Just non of the titles listed in "My Music" or "Music" folders would play.  All the music was listed in these folder, but if you clicked on a song nothing would happen.    Will the above exercise fix this issue?

Final question:  on first install of Rockbox, the Gigabeat was visible under Computers, as a Hard Drive, but did not show up under Windows Media Player as a portable device.  Why not?

LambdaCalculus:
Rockbox doesn't have MTP functionality built in. Any device running Rockbox will therefore not appear as a "Portable Media Player" (or whatever Windows calls an MTP-capable DAP), but will function just fine as a UMS (USB Mass Storage) device.
