File extentions changed

cryincoyote:
Installed Rockbox on Toshiba Gigabeat F10 today. When I access files from windows7 computer, all music files now have .sat file extension and can't be opened.  What next?

Do you by chance have ACIS installed?

Even if you did, that wouldn't explain your audio randomly changing it's extension...just wondering if you had this software installed, and accidentally messed up your file association/"Open With" settings somehow?

Llorean:
.sat is what the toshiba software converts mp3s to when it encrypts them for use on their player. these are all songs you synced either before Rockbox or while booted in the original firmware. I don't believe they can be recovered.

cryincoyote:
correction---  the .sat is added to the end of the file--- example:  rock.mp3.sat ---  Previously I could transfer files from the Toshiba to my desktop without problem.  The Rockbox plays songs listed under Database, but does not play songs listed in Folder / music or mymusic.   I assume since the .sat was added.

AlexP:
As Llorean says, .sat is Toshiba's encrypted format.  It is possible to recover them, but you need the Gigabeat OF and a dock - it is on the wiki somewhere.  By far the easiest thing to do is to remove them a recopy the original files over while in Rockbox USB.
