Only 1 in 3 wads work in rock doom
unum:
A matter of curiosity, I have downloaded 22 wad files for rockdoom but only 7 work, maybe I'm doing something wrong maybe the archives are incomplete and there is the matter of the difference between a windows 1994 computer and a modern sansa. Could someone enlighten me to the possible problems? I am getting my wads from here http://www.doomworld.com/10years/bestwads/.
P.S. 1.5 out of 3 wads crash and I have to wait for the battery to run down until I can use it again.
saratoga:
Are you running some low memory target? I bet all kinds of WADs require more RAM then a lot of players have available.
Also, you can usually reboot a crashed player just by holding power (or some other button) for a while.
unum:
So Far "Slayer" is the only wad really worth playing.
Post Merge: February 08, 2011, 07:11:11 PMThank you! so there is that Discrepancy, I expected as much but I have been able to load reasonable size levels, the biggest being
about 3 acres of coverage(Darken). I still find it pretty amazing that this game can fit on to a sansa.
I bought the last sansa fuze in radioshack because i wanted to install rockbox on it... a testament to the payoff of all the developers hard work.
P.S. can the joe the developer write apps for rockbox

Also could you please elaborate on low memory target.
saratoga:
The Fuze only has 8MB of RAM, so its low memory. We've been thinking about removing doom on the Fuze since it doesn't really work right with so little RAM. It would save us a lot of threads like this one.
unum:
please do not, you guys are the boss, but even with low ram doom is still pretty cool. Only a few levels probably have too little ram to run and although it could be better It is good for the fuze. Sorry to burden you but you said the fuze has only 8mb ram, does that mean others have more and if so how much more. Thsnks for answering my questions
