32gb MicroSD HC - works with Sansa E200v1?
« on: February 07, 2011, 10:14:12 AM »
Has anyone tested out the new 32gb MicroSD HC cards on Sansa E200v1 player

eg
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-00104374-microSDHC-32GB-Card/dp/B003HIWHN0

I don't want to fork out that sort of cash to find it's incompatible.

I have a 16gb Sandisk card and it works just fine, but double the capacity is very tempting!

The SDHC specification specifies cards up to 32GB. If the card is according to the specification it works. It not, then maybe. There is really no (technical) reason why a 32GB card shouldn't work. Besides, the 32GB limit in the specification is (at least from my understanding) completely arbitrary, they could support even bigger cards without problems. But that might cause people not wanting to upgrade to the next newer greater and cooler version of the standard ...

No, I haven't tested such a card. I'm still pretty sure it will work.

For what it is worth, I have a SanDisk 32GB working in my Fuze v2.  But, only Rockbox will read all of it properly.

In case anyone is searching for the definitive answer.

YES

I bought the Sansa 32GB micro SDHC card from Amazon and it works perfectly in my E200 v1.

I’m soooo happy! Doubled my capacity!

I have a Fuze  - bought a 32GB card that seemed to work fine, however, it wasn't recognized in Rockbox as available space. Reported no card present. I currently have a 16GB card and works fine. Is there certain cards that don't work properly? Perhaps my version of Rockbox needs to be updated? Thanx!

I have a 32gb card that I use in my e280v2, Fuze v2, Clip+ and Clip zip. So maybe it's the card you have? Maybe pop it in a card reader first, make sure it's formatted to FAT32. And try from there. Also make sure it's not a dud/fake card.

Any reason Rockbox would not read a 64GB microSDXC?  I keep reading on the web that people are successfully formatting the present generation of 64GB microSDXC to fat32 and are able to use them in their devices.  64GB microSDXC isn't cheap though...   :(

I've read they work in Android phones. Hoping to try get one in the new year. Doubt if I could have one shipped here before Christmas. Will post as soon as I get it to work. The 64GB SDXC card I had worked in a converter to my Clip+, So I don't see why the MIcro one wouldn't work once formatted to FAT32.

i'm anxious to hear whether this works or not.. i'm wondering whether there's any hope it would work in the fuzev2 (of course i figure the chances are about the same between that and the clip+), since having a 70gb flash player would be kinda unbelievable  ;D

32gb MicroSD HC won't work with Fuze v2
« Reply #10 on: November 28, 2011, 12:27:14 PM »
I currently use a 16GB Micro SD card with my Fuze v2 and it works well.

Bought a 32GB Micro SD Card and the system player info reports "MSD Not Present". The drive does show in Windows Explorer and I am able to format it. For some reason, Rockbox, (using v 3.7.1) does not recognize the card. Quite sure it's a good error free legit card, as I bought it from Staples.

Are there different types of SD Cards? This card specifies "For Mobile Phones", if that matters. Strangely I had a similar problem with my 16GB card that I bought from Micro Center. The first one I bought I returned, as it similarly was not recognized by Rockbox.
Thanks!

Does the current build recognize the card?  We don't provide support for such old builds.
