Download links
« on: February 04, 2011, 05:01:25 AM »
Could you please add the 'Download' word / button / icon to the theme page, like it is at the combined list? It isn't very clear that you need to click the screenshot — I gave a link to a theme, and many mentioned they were scrolling back and forth looking for it.

At the forum were I gave the link one user explained why he was confused:

There are 4 screenshots on that particular theme page, so the brain just didn't mark it as the same single link. He clicked on the linked theme name first, it just reloaded the page. Wondering why is it there, he noted the 'Zip content' section and scrolled under it looking for 'Download'. The shots were the last choice.

Other users agreed with that note. There are all sorts of buttons there, except for a very natural 'Download'. And it's very easy to add it to the template, I think.

Through massive long term testing, it was determined that there is a correlation between people who experience confusion downloading a theme and an increase in subsequent inane questions.  This is just a crude method to screen users. ;)

Yet there is a button for an arrogant reply.

There is a reason why people write 'Download', comment code and have names.
It saves time.

Sorry you took as serious and as arrogant. See, emotive smiley.
I agree with you that it may be an easy change. I also believe all relevant people who would need to see your request saw it via the original post.

Regardless, this is a forum for discussion of specific themes. Discussion about all things website related ought to be here:  http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/board,37.0.html

Discussing this usability issue in IRC is likely your best bet if you feel passionate about the change.

Submitting a patch doubly so!  ;)
