Delay when playing files

(1/1)

lduperval:
Hi,

For some reason, on my Sansa Fuze v2 with the latest release (3.7), there is a delay when I first play a file. Whether I am resuming playback or selecting a file from the playlist and initiating playback, there is a delay, sometimes upward of ten seconds, before audio playback begins.

In the BeoBox theme, a blue indicator on the left side of the interface until playback begins. I<m not sure what that means.

When I play movies or FM radio, though, playback is instantaneous. It really is only  MP3  playback that causes a problem. Once playback is started, I don't see this.

I thought crossfade was the problem but even when I disable it, I see the same type of delay.

Any ideas?

I don't see anything like that on my Fuze V2 (mostly using Vorbis files though, but some MP3s too). Do you have big album art files, perhaps? In JPEG format?

lduperval:
I have almost no album art. I do have a lot of movies on an SD card, but the music-playing problem happens on the internal memory as well as the card.

Don't have much OGG (shame, shame...) so I can't really compare. I can try adding some to see, though.

If I pause music and restart it, I don't see the problem. I don't see the problem when songs change automatically. I do see it, but to a lesser degree, when I skip from one song to the next or when I resume play after watching a video or playing FM radio.

It really seems to be a startup issue when (re)starting the audio player.

Possibly a shot in the dark, but try enabling the directory cache
