Fuze: original firmware not recognized

I cannot get the bootloader to operate. It tells me there was no compatible original firmware.

I've tried V01.02.31A
as well as V01.01.15A

Please be more specific. Did you manage to successfully patch the Original Firmware file? If not, how exactly did the error message look? How did you try to patch the firmware?

The terminology confuses me. Using either Sansa's update service, or simply manually installing the original firmware, I have had both firmwares install and the device works like factory.

Attempting to install Rockbox, with either firmware installed, always arrives at this error:
