UI in Sansa Clip+ - how to jump (hotkey) from "Now Playing" to Database / Genres

(1/1)

ari:
I am using the latest build of rockbox in my sansa clip+, with the botio theme.

I've been reading documentation and posts here and there, but I can't find out whether the following is supported:

I need a way (key/hotkey/key-combination) to jump from the "Now Playing" screen to the Database (preferably, to the browse-by-genre section of the database, since this is how I typically browse my music).

I read about "Hotkeys" which in theory can be defined for each screen, including "Now Playing" - however rockbox in the sansa clip seems to be lacking that functionalities. I figure this because the documentation mentions that "Hotkeys" are configured in Settings > General Settings > Hotkeys, however rockbox in the clip doesn't present the option like other platforms seem to do.

Right now, this is my typical usecase:

   1) to get into now-playing, I use a key combination: home + select
   2) then when I want to change to another album, I do: Home  (goes to main menu) > Database > Genres > (select genre) > select artist > select album

For 2), I'd rather use some shortcut to go directly from now-playing to "Genres".

Hints will be appreciated :)

If you're in the WPS, pressing "select" takes you to wherever you invoked the WPS from. So if the last place you were was the database, you'll be right back there. This isn't something you can use 100% of the time since it's "last location" rather than "always goes to" but it may help you in many situations.
