ipod 5.5g - losing all settings & theme every time I restart

Nearly every time I restart the iPod it reverts to the default theme and all my settings are reset to defaults.  I'd think it could be a battery issue but I'm not having any other issues with the battery, it's charging and holding a charge fine.  Any ideas?  Thanks...

Are you clicking the hold switch on as Rockbox boots up? Doing that will cause Rockbox to clear all customized settings and revert to its default settings for everything.

Nope, not generally touching the hold switch at all.

Are you performing a clean shutdown of Rockbox whenever you're done using your iPod? In essence, holding down the PLAY button until you see "Shutting down..." on the screen, and not resetting it via the MENU+SELECT button combo?

Post Merge: January 25, 2011, 06:08:36 PMIt seems that if I let it shut down by itself after inactivity, settings are retained on the next startup.  So both hard-reset and manual shutdown are causing settings to be lost but not the self-shutdown.

edit: whoops...this happened 2 consecutive times but on the third self-shutdown I once again lost settings on startup.

Have you tried a clean re-install, BTW?  AFAIK settings are saved to disk, so I don't believe there's much of a chance battery issues would cause this.

Have you checked the filesystem for errors?
