Missing "USB Mode" option under "Settings" menu..

I'm trying to install Rockbox, so I need to switch my player to MSC USB Mode. According to all documentation I can find, there is supposed to be a "USB Mode" option under the "Settings" menu, but it's not there! What can I do? Is there any way to "force" my player into MSC mode or something similar to that?

edit: Forgot to mention the player! It's a sansa e260v2

What player is it? Years ago my sansa e250 could not be rockboxed with out first downgrading the firmware.

Good point! I added a correction to my original post. It's a sansa e260v2. How would I go about downgrading the firmware?

Thank you so much, I followed your link and found that I could turn the device on, put HOLD on, then press |<< and keep it pressed while plugging in my player. This way it connected using MSC and I could provide the mount point to Rockbox Utility. I now have Rockbox!
