Add more file types to Plugins->Games

(1/2) > >>

KevinEvans:
Is there a way that I could easily add .gbc file types to the game's menu (Plugins>Games)? Would I need to edit source and recompile?  :-\

d_fawlt_uzr:
Just put your .gbc files in a folder and put it on the root of your iPod or whatever you have.

You don't even need a folder, just put the files on the root and look them up through the file viewer and you can see them. click on on and Rockbox will open up Rockboy for ya

lolsack:
Yes, you would need to edit the source and recompile. I do support this idea though, and although I cannot code for shit myself, I would love to see a patch implementing this idea. :)

[Saint]:
Is the idea here that it's supposed to be "easier" to access the roms?
It overcomplicates things unnecessarily in my opinion, if you want to access them quickly just store them in the root of the player, change show files to "supported" or "all", and access them with the filebrowser.
Two clicks.

There are two ways this could be done.

1 - An in-game menu which displays Game Boy games based on their location in the file system.

IMHO you might as well just create a directory (as Saint said) and launch them from there yourself.

2 - An in-game menu which scours the filesystem for Game Boy games and compiles a list regardless of the ROM's actual location within the filesystem.

This would take far more effort and, IMHO, would be better served by an expansion of the role of the current Database to include files other than music.
