Ipod not charging in Dension's interface?
« on: January 22, 2011, 05:59:40 PM »
First of all, a big thanks to everyone involved in this great project!!

I hope I'm not posting in a wrong forum.

I've got an Ipod Photo 4th gen installed in my car via a Dension's ice>Link One interface (http://www.dension.com/product/ipod-car-adapter/ipod-iphone-auxin-fm/icelink-one). I have setup option "Charge during USB Connection" to Force and "Car Adapter Mode" to Yes but still it won't charge the Ipod in a situation when Apple's firmware would.

When on Apple's firmware it would charge the Ipod everytime I give contact with my car keys and would pause the Ipod when I take my car keys out. I could live with the Rockbox not pausing automatically, but not charging is quite a problem as I really hate using the original firmware after I've seen what Rockbox can. Taking Ipod every day or two out of the car for charging isn't really an elegant solution either.

Could anyone help with this problem?
Thanks a lot!

Greets

What does the second page of the battery debug screen say while it's plugged in?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't thought of going there.
It says:

Pwr status: discharging
Battery: 4.101 V
Charger: absent

Just in case, I've tried starting the car (although it should charge even when I just give the contact with the car keys), but it was still discharging and didn't detect the charger.

I'm here if there is anything else you might want me to try...

The car is not providing any power, then. There's no detection of the charger there other than "is power coming in" on each of the relevant dock pins.

Try turning on the accessory power supply option. It's possible the car's dock isn't turning the power on until it detects the ipod, which it won't be able to do without the ipod powering the accessory pins.

No luck. :(

I reset the settings, set Charge During USB Connection = Force, Car Adapter Mode = Yes and Accessory Power Supply = Yes but still it doesn't charger with Charger = absent in Debug screen?!
