noise in background

i just installed rockbox on my sansa clip v2.  its great, however, there is constant annoying white noise and "dr dr dr" sounds in the background.  i use in-ear earbuds, so this becomes more apparent to me.  i have tried dithering, but it dosent help.  someone please help
