Sansa c200 v2: Database will not build

(1/2) > >>

Jalowan:
I know the Sansa c200 v2 is not considered stable right now, but I decided to try a manual install anyway.  Everything went pretty a-okay, but the database will not build.  It can find all the files on the device, but stalls after the count.  I can play songs from the file folders but nothing shows in the database.

I read somewhere else this can be caused by corrupt meta data.  To test this, I removed all songs from the device and loaded just a few that I believe to be good.  Still no luck.  Is this a know issue with the c200 v2 port?  Thanks,

Jalowan

evilnick:
To make sure that the metadata is uncorrupt (actually, that's possibly the wrong term. While corrupt tags may crash the parser, problems with the database are more often with incompatible tags or tags like embedded album art) I would start with 2 or 3 files that you've created yourself so that you can be sure that there are no extranneous tags in there and then try initialising the database again.

Jalowan:
Thanks evilnick.  I deleted every song on the device, formatted the add-on memory, and put a database.ignore file in every directory that has a file in it (like .rockbox and sub directories).  The database still finds 344 files and gets stuck on these.  Perhaps it's these files that are causing the database to trip up?  Is there any other way to prevent the database from looking in these directories?  Thanks for the help.

yapper:
Have you looked at System>Debug(Keep Out)>View database info ?
That might give a clue where the problem lies.

Jalowan:
I was trying to keep out of there!  What I see:

Initialized: Yes
DB Ready: No
RAM Cache: No
Ram: 0/0 B
Progress: -1% (344 Entries)
Curfile: ---
