Problem with artist tag
« on: January 08, 2011, 04:19:51 AM »
I'm having a really wierd problem with an artist tag.  The album is "The Devil You Know" by Heaven & Hell.  It is tagged as such.  However, when navigating the database, while the first track is showing up under Heaven & Hell, the rest of the songs won't show up under Heaven & Hell but instead, show up as an untagged artist.  I tried stripping the tag and retagging them, but it's still showing up that way.  What's even more baffling is that, using the original iPod firmware, the songs all show up where they're supposed to; under Heaven & Hell.  But using the Rockbox firmware, they will not.  None of the other albums on my iPod are doing this, only this one.

Hard to say exactly what the problem is without seeing the tags in question. But a long field can cause this (e.g., a comment), if the long field comes before the artist, as Rockbox only stores a limited amount of tag data per file.

Just as an FYI, just because a file seems to be tagged properly under the iPod OF doesn't mean that it is. It means that it might be tagged properly, or that the iTunes database has the corrected information in it.
