Compiling is easy. Understanding the code for a specific piece of hardware well enough to disable part of it without causing side effects, not always so easy.

You can learn to compile Rockbox in less than 5 minutes. If you think it's so easy, feel free to do it, but as somebody who doesn't own the player, I certainly would not feel comfortable providing you with a build that I personally can neither test nor be sure I've made the right changes to. Few people have this player any more, thus it's "obscure."

In these two weeks you could've easily learned the basics of compiling Rockbox, and if it's as easy as you think it is, also have made the change. If it's not as easy as you think it is, of course, then your rant against people who won't do something for your, for free, is completely pointless.

Just as a tip, you catch more flies with honey. Ranting at people who wouldn't do you a favor is somewhat silly. Do you often go to the mall, say "can anyone spare a buck?" to the whole foodcourt, then stand around for two weeks not even trying to acquire a dollar a more traditional way, then once nobody even says anything to you, start ranting at the people there? That is essentially what you're doing here.

Ranting on people is surely not what i wanted to do. It seems to me i clearly underestimated my request. Knowing me, i'm sure it would take me much much more than 5 minutes to learn how to compile, i really have no clue about any programming. This is maybe why i thought it would  rather be easy to edit a existing build... Maybe the reason why it sounded "aggressive" or "ranting" is also a language problem, english is not my native language, so if it was rude to you, i'm sorry. I'm just in the middle of my final exams for my further education, that's why i didn't check the posts... and my first reaction after 2 weeks was, to be honest, disappointment.

Well, i think i'm just gonna mod-back my device and use batteries again...
