"ajbrec.ajz"-file compiled with option to turn off usb-mode
rabanito:
Hello Forum, hello Developers!
I know, this is a very unusual request, but i really ask for help.
I have the Archos Jukebox Recorder V1 which i have modified with a 120gb-Harddrive and a HW-hack to use USB-Power.
Also, i have rockbox flashed.
Everything works fine, except the device now always powers up in usb-mode, no way to turn it off.
I really really love my Archos. Specially with rockbox on it. Unfortunately, i have absolutely no clue about programming and compiling, and to learn it (specially for me) would take ages. There would be a possibility to use a simple diode in my HW-hack, but i want to power the player through USB and listen to music in the same time without having inserted any batteries.
So is there anybody who would do me a BIG favour and send me a already compiled "ajbrec.ajz"-file for my Archos jukebox Recorder V1 with a usb-patch applied?
I'm sure for a skilled developer this is no big deal, but to me it would mean a lot. A Button-combination to press play and forward in the same time to turn off usb-mode and go back to the WPS would be great, or just another solution, as easy as possible, as you figure.
To anybody willing to help me, i can provide a email adress to send me the file.
Thank you very much in anticipation.

No one? After 2 Weeks? Not even an answer?
Is this the way you treat people who are really big fans of your product but don't have the knowledge to program a patch themselves? You just ignore them?
I don't want to be rude, but if i would have the skills to easily compile a patch for somebody enjoying his mp3-player with rockbox even much more, i would definitely do it.
Still hope someone can do it, i would be very very thankful and appreciate it very much!
I'm not sure if it is allowed to use email-adresses in posts of this forum?
If yes, i'll post one. Thanks for letting me know.
Cheers, rabanito

You're probably going to have to wait a good while longer then that for someone who happens to know how to do this off the top of their head to wander by. Its a really obscure request for a really obscure player. There may not be anyone here who knows how at all.
rabanito:
Obscure player? The first players rockbox was developed for were the archos jukeboxes! It's for sure not the newest piece of hardware, so the compiling should even be easier, or i'm i wrong? The daily build for the archos jukebox recorder is for download on this website, so to simply tweak it to be able to turn off usb-mode should not be too hard for someone familiar with compiling? Builds for other players (i.e. ipods) offer this feature so it has been done before... so much for obscure request... to the ones really familiar with developing and compiling, please correct me if i'm wrong, but think my request is really not too hard to realize.
cheers, rabanito

Becoming familiar with compiling takes about 5 minutes and reading a half page of instructions. You could have become familiar with it in the time it took you to type these posts. Probably thats not enough :)
You have to actually figure out what you've changed on your player, and then write code to implement whatever it is you need. Unless someone else has done this same mod, you're probably on your own here.
