CF Install in iRiver H320 - incorrect alignment

I have tried  certain combinations of aligning the CF -> ZIF -> H320 cable. I reinserted the pin and am still getting the ATA-11 error.

There is a possibility that my CF adapter is to blame. It has no jumpers and cost me 2$off ebay.

What do I risk if I reverse the cable connection ? MyH320 is still fine as I can the original HDD.

Or should I order another adapter off ebay and try again ?
