No one appears to be working on the ipod classic power stuff at the moment so a breakthrough is unlikely any time soon i'd say

Is there any way we can donate to get this project going again? I've been using rockbox for years on my sansa and it was brilliant. I "upgaded" to an Ipod 6G classic 160gb. For some stupid reason i just assumed there'd be a rockbox for it... :( I'm thinking of selling the ipod and getting a large capacity MP3 player that is compatable with rockbox. I don't think I can take the stupid apple firmware anymore. I don't like how it deals with comilation albums and how I have no control over the content once it's copied over (ie I can't delete anything using the ipod).

Arghhh! It makes me angry when I listen to music! Please can we donate to get this project up and going again?

Probably not.  You're welcome to offer a ipod or something and see if anyone is interested in it, but usually people just buy mp3 players if they want to work on them.

Why not sell the iPod Classic and get a used iPod Video 5.5g 80GB and upgrade the HDD?

That's interesting, TexasRockbox!
 ;)
I have a 5.5gen iPod and (like many others, I immagine) wouldn't mind upgrading from H.D. to Flash.
Any suggestion or links?
Thanks,
H.

I cant understand why people love the classic so much.
I have a 5.5 video with a 240gig drive. All the 5th gen's come standard  with the wolfson audiophile grade audio chip - and are the last models to have that amazingly clean sounding chip.
The only minus I can think of is that the 5th gen's front scratches, but its $5 to buy a new front, or $15 to buy a case and never worry about it. they even have a 950mah battery for the 5th gen's now. So why get a classic?  ???

Because it's a free market, and people can spend their money on what they wish?

Please elaborate!  I've been waiting to try a build that doesn't have a small fraction of the OF's battery life

sorry for replying to myself but the one from the tenth was massive big bug on my system. i enabled the auto update and that caused it to scan the disk on boot and then it would panic every boot so i had to format the data partition so just a let you know that that's a problem.

also with the current build the midi plays at double speed

--EDIT--
Useing the beta ive found that problems arise sometimes. but when you mess up rockbox or do something else that makes it not boot it would be a great ability to get into diskmode without useing emcore to format the data partition. if someone  could help me be able to use diskmode without being in rockbox id really like it

Also ive had many headaches with itunes enabled computers messing up the ipods disk and makeing the whole computer lag to the point where the only way to recover is to unplug the ipod i beleve that changeing the usb driver id to identify as a generic usb mass storage device would work fine and solve the problem

and it is stuck scanning the disk again I really hope i dont have to format the thing
