I have an iPod 6G 160GB 2007 Edition, not the 2009 one. Am I understand this thread correctly that there is no Rockbox or other OS for this specific iPod version available?
...Not exactly, see the wiki:http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodClassicPort

Maybe I'll give it a try when my iPod is back from repairing the LCD. In case I install this unstable Rockbox version, is there a relatively easy way to switch back to the original software?
i'd go with a new one.... High future potential, because it's still in production, great storage and solid platform.. Why risk getting a half used one then ?
Rockbox does not seem to be installed. You need to extract it to the root directory of your iPod.Press any key to return to the menu.
You should be able to launch the Rockbox fallback image via emCORE's "Tools" menu. After that, connect via USB and extract a new build as normal.[St.]
