Rockbox for iPod Classic 6G available (and unstable)

Also, the fact that CE-ATA is a standard doesn't magically make it the same as another standard (MMC in this case), even though it is electrically compatible
torne:
The part that's standard is the connection between the CE-ATA controller and the CE-ATA hard drive. The software interface to the controller is not the same on different devices.

Hello,
What's the connection between freemyipod and rockbox? Isn't rockbox created just by rockbox people and no one else? Pls help a confused person. 8 - )
Chronon:
Developers are free to work here and on any other projects that they like. There's no implied exclusivity.

Rockbox is the general community that develops the firmware itself and ports it to various devices.
Freemyipod is a specialized project targeted specifically at making iPods with encrypted firmware (all newer models) able to get custom firmwares (more exactly Rockbox as development for iPodLinux is kind of dead). On these iPods it is a lot harder to port Rockbox and a team that is specialized only on them will achieve the goal faster.
In a nut shell the scope of Freemyipod is porting Rockbox to encrypted iPods.
EDIT: the 2 projects are interconnected, not separate entities
