Possible hardware issues? iPod Color (4G)
« on: January 03, 2011, 09:54:48 PM »
Recently, there have been reports of iPod Colors having various hardware-oriented issues.

LambdaCalculus379 and St. have one and two iPod Colors on hand, respectively. All three have been showcasing the following:
  • failures in attempts to boot to Rockbox (about 1 to 3 attempts every 5);
  • sporadic file corruption even on nearly-new disks;
  • occasional reports of a critical battery level on boot, even if the battery is in good standing at the time, requiring a hard reset to get around;
  • and (on one of the iPods) garbage text in the original firmware.

These issues have apparently been observed for a long time now, and it seems a stretch to call it a coincidence or outright hardware failure. Can anyone else confirm these behaviors or others on their iPod Colors, and/or possible signs that Rockbox is involved?
