More trouble with WPS in V3.7.1 on Sansa 260 (V1)
« on: January 02, 2011, 04:28:16 PM »
Hello,

I'm just getting back into RB after being away from it for a year or so. I've just updated from V3.5 to V3.7.1 and, needless to say, my custom WPS screen broke. I processed the .wps file with the "skinupdater" as per the V3.7.1 release notes, but that didn't help (BTW, I really like the new code format :).

Has anything in the .cfg file format or file location convention(s) changed that might cause the problem?

In the meantime, I'll try updating my simulator and see if I can track this down.

Thanks

OldSchool,

Post your code for me, and I'll have a look at it for you.

Here it is, attached (I hope) - direct from the skin updater. I haven't had time to try the simulator yet.

Thanks :)

Oldschool,

Here you go.

- I have removed a lot of "dead" code
- Re-enabled what I could (some things the author apparently couldn't get right at the time)
- Arranged a few things for better readability
- Fixed up a few conditions

It parses successfully, I don't have any of the bitmaps here...so I've no idea what it *looks* like but I haven't really made any changes that will affect how the theme is presented, just "behind the scenes" work.

[St.],

Thanks much for your efforts - still no joy I'm afraid. I really need to bash away at it using the simulator - maybe some day I'll have time. :(

I don't think the trouble's in the code (BTW: I leave the dead stuff in just in case I ever figure out how to get it to work). I thought maybe ANSI encoding was wrong, but that doesn't seem to matter.

Oh well, life is full of these little mysteries. :)

Cheers

What exactly is the error you're seeing?

I guess I should just download the theme and have a play with it, but I really don't have the time to do so lately.

I'm about 99.9% certain that the code is fine, but...I don't know what it is that you're seeing/not seeing.

Are only some objects not displaying?
Is the theme falling back to the rockbox_failsafe built in theme?

Though I don't really have the time for it, it's annoying me now ;)

There's no error message - it just uses the fallback. As I said, the code worked with RB 3.5. All I did was run it through the skinupdater for 3.7.1. Don't spend too much time on it. I'll be able to debug it properly when I have some time. It isn't urgent; I can still us the player.

Cheers
