How do I boot into the original firmware without the hold button?

(1/1)

EnzoMatico:
Hello, Recently I replaced the battery in my iPod video 5.5 gen and I must have broken the hold switch assembly while doing so because it no longer works :-\
I still want to be able to boot into the original firmware  but am unable to do so now. Is there any way of changing the way I boot into the original firmware? maybe make it so that i hold previous and next at the same time to load the original firmware?

saratoga:
I'm pretty sure you can already hold menu, at least on a lot of ipods.

dreamlayers:
Yes, at least on the 5G iPod, the menu key works well.  With the iPod in off state, push menu and continue holding it until it is obvious that you're booting into the original firmware.  It's easy, with no tricky timing involved, and totally reliable.

Llorean:
Just as a tip, you can usually let go of "menu" just after the backlight comes on behind the Apple logo. You'll see an unlit Apple, then it will light up.

EnzoMatico:
Yes! Thank you for the help, although i've had Rockbox for some time now I think i'm still a noob ;D

Thanks for all of your help
