Playback in a single folder issue.
« on: January 01, 2011, 08:39:21 AM »
Hello, I've a Sansa Fuze V2.

I've installed rockbox a while back. It's been rather great for playing my collection. Though, Im having problems with it playing an audio folder of files. The files are Ogg Vorbis format. It's an isolated incident as all of my other files seem to work perfectly.

Also, a side non critical bug, I've also had is that add files to the database often will have duplicate files. Even after clearing the da, tabase and re-initializing it. I do not think it's causing the aforementioned issue but if it may be of interest, just in case.

More description than "I'm having problems" would be helpful. What happens when you try to play them? Is it always in the same place, or random places in that folder, etc? Have you checked the disk for errors?

WHERE: It's  a single entire folder. Basically one album. Isolated incident.

WHAT HAPPENS : The songs dont play instead the programs iterates thru all the files until it reaches the end of the folder. During the duration of the skipping it seems as if the battery is being drained more until it hit's the last file. Same place. Same folder. Same files.

Disk is ok.

Anything else???????

How were the files created?

Pick of the files, verify that it plays on your PC, and then upload it with a bug report to the bug tracker.

Chained Oggs are not supported and won't play. Huge (say, 500 kB or more) embedded albumart can also cause problems.

Llorean: FLAC > SoundConverter (gstreamer) >  ogg vorbis

Saratoga:
Hello again,
The file actually plays on both my workstation and my personal computer. Even burned properly to a CD-R and works on a colleagues computer.
Ticket has been open with sample uploaded at http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11856 you will need 7zip program.

Leer:
Not sure what you mean by chained ogg. Though, I am assuming it's like 1 gigantic ogg file that has an index file with points in it to jump to like a .cue or an audiobook. If so, then no they arent.
Also, I looked at the file and it seems that there is no album art in the files.
I'm pretty sure the files used to play until once upon a day, then they just stopped.

Sort of. Take two or more files and concatenate them.

No album art? More like 2 freaking MB of album art (in PNG format). ;D Rockbox has never handled that large Vorbis comments well...

That's weird. The MP3tag.de shows no album art. I will check it out on my Linux box and then report back.

So yea, I looked at it using EasyTag in Linux and sure enough 1500x1500 2mb PNG. Holy cow. Removed and the songs now play on the device.

Thanks and
Thanks for the 'chained ogg' explanation.
