NEED HELP! iPod old 2g with 4g's HDD didn't work...

sinless:
in order to intall a 2000mah battery,i replace ipod 2g's mk2004gal with mk2006gal from a ipod 4g,but when i connect 2g to computer to restore,itunes get freeze and the device come out special noise looks as if there is a bad HDD.but i'm sure the hdd works.
