Clip+ audio playback problems
« on: December 31, 2010, 01:20:02 AM »
I've recently been having some odd playback problems with my clip+. There are a few songs that cause what seems to be loss of volume in most frequencies, basically everything above bass range. It's generally sort of rather short, random, and constant loss during playback of one or two songs. It only happens during parts of the song, usually when the song is at it's louder parts. At first I thought it might have been the clip itself, but it plays back fine in the default firmware. Volume doesn't seem to make a difference either. The songs also play back fine on my X5L with rockbox, though it's still on 3.6.

The clip is running the current version of rockbox as of this post, it's been having problems with every version I've tried though, all 3.7+.

Sounds like a loose headphone jack.

Sounds like a loose headphone jack.

Doesn't have any wiggle and I wasn't able to reproduce the problem under the default firmware at all. It also only happens in two or so songs at the exact same point every time.

I've had loose jacks before, had to fix my X5L because of it. This definitely isn't a loose jack.

Thats different then if its the same place every time rather then random.  Upload one of the samples to our bug tracker (right side of the screen has the link).  I'll take a look at it.

It's random within the period of time when it consistently does it.

Figuring out the bug buddy thingy now.

What browser are you using?  :o

Chrome, Opera and IE have it on the left side here...weird.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

I like how I just naturally looked to the left and didn't notice.

Added a comment with a recording of the file being played in rockbox and in the default firmware. I'll post it here as well.

Bump? Any other ideas other than just an odd player quirk?

Bump. Can you try a build with FS#12111 in? (dfkt has one posted over at abi>>.) That patch disables output mixer AGC, which may be responsible for this quirk.
