Hi!
I'm new here but I've been using Rockbox for a while. I think it's great! Thanks to everybody who helped make it happen! In any case I'm posting to describe a problem I encountered when upgrading to the latest version (3.7.1) and a solution I found:
so after upgrading from version 3.6 (using the Utility) my Rockbox unit (Sansa e200 v1) I saw the booting Rockbox logo and it said 3.7.1 but that's about it. It went to a blank screen with the scroll wheel lit. It stayed there for a while and eventually it went to the main screen. However, it was unresponsive. It also would complain about divide by zero. After rebooting a few times it still did the same thing. So I manually went back to 3.6 and all was well again. Then I upgraded to 3.7.1 and the same problem was back. So I went back to 3.6 and thought about what might be causing it. I decided to change the theme from arboxWidgets to Rockbox default... and lo and behold it booted after the upgrade albeit it looked different than the default I remembered. Anyhoo, I decided to do some testing: went back to 3.6, changed the theme to arboxWidgets, updated to 3.7.1 and ended up with unusable unit again. Back to 3.6, changed the theme to AArdvark, updated to 3.7.1, changed to arboxWidgets and it seemed to work but when I played a song it showed (just for the playing screen)a very minimalistic interface (not arboxWidgets). I did some other testing but this post is getting too long. In the end I ended up with a working 3.7.1 and then updated the arboxWidgets theme. It's back to normal now but the Rockbox default icons theme is not working. I mean I can select it but it does not take effect. How do I get it back? Also as a suggestion from all of this: can the Utility update the installed theme files when it is updating Rockbox to avoid such problems? Or warn that the update is not compatible with the current theme?
