Quick jump to Graphical EQ settings

[St.] is suggesting that if you're changing EQ settings particularly often, the best way to do it quickly is to load presets.

That would be pretty much useless if what he/she wants to do is, say, to adjust one an EQ filter one or two dB steps on the current EQ settings, according to the song.
Plus, the suggested route isn't really that much shorter (press select>settings>manage settings>browse .cfg files versus

Who suggested a route?
You?
Certainly not I.
You seem to be forgetting that a .cfg can be launched from anywhere in the file browser.

you're right about the .cfg launching... still (in many cases) useless. My point is, it's true that accessing graphic EQ may be long in many cases, and maybe it shouldn't. Real equalizers, as opposed to this virtual one, can be quickly adjusted, it's not complicated.
[Saint]:
If you really find it necessary to tinker with your EQ for each and every track (though I really can't think of why one should need to), or saving one or two key presses makes such a huge difference then assign the low/high shelf filters to the top/bottom and left/right quickscreen items.
Also, the only thing being done differently between Roxbox and a "real EQ" is the way the controls are presented.
The only "virtual" thing about the Rockbox EQ is the UI, which I'm sure you will agree is a lot more convenient than having to have physical controls for such a purpose on a portable media player.
If the "downside" to that is that I have to navigate to a menu entry as opposed to having ~20 buttons on my DAP I'll take the downside any day.
