Rockbox Development > Starting Development and Compiling
Devkit Unavailable
LX2010:
Hi there, I'm new to dev & compiling. Want to try compiling a new patch but the thing is that the link to download the devkit at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cyborgsystems/CS_Main/RockBox/RockBox.htm is not working.
Tried googling but couldn't find anything so decided to register & post here as a last resort. Hope someone could upload the link to somewhere else or something like that. Sry if this is in the wrong section or what not. Not really sure to post this.
Thanks for your time!

That "devkit" is extremely outdated, and not really what you should be using to develop anything.
If you just go to the wiki on the bar to the left you'll find plenty of information on how to develop for Rockbox. Where did you find that massively outdated link?
Also, if you look at the stickies in this forum, one of them might give you a little clue where to get started.

Uhhh well.. truth to be said.. I'm not a dev of any sort at all. Not familar to C or anything.
All I wanted to do was to add this http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/2896 to my player for usage.
Thought that you have to do is to recompile with the devkit & all that to use it. Could someone point me in the right direction? Sry for the inconvenience caused :-[
LambdaCalculus:
There's a ton of information on the wiki here.
To compile Rockbox, follow the instructions in the pages up above. You'll also need subversion, gcc, and a good text editor (like Emacs) to develop for Rockbox. There's a page in the link above that'll show you how to get the source code and prepare the environment for compiling and building Rockbox.
