Toshiba Gigabeat MEGF 40 frozen- plays, but can't navigate
« on: December 20, 2010, 08:03:54 PM »
When I attempted to play some Christmas music at my parent's home, my Gigabeat with Rockbox turned on, loaded properly and started playing the last track that I had accessed some time ago,  however I could not navigate away from the track info or use any of the navigation controls to get to the main menu.  It continues to play artist tracks by John Williams, but I have no control of the unit, including pause, power, or volume.  It is recognized by my computer via USB and I can play tracks in that mode through the computer.  I have recycled the battery switch and the problem remains.  I am in the process of running down the battery to see I can affect some kind of a successful reboot.  Anyone have any idea what the problem is or have any possible fixes?  Thanks.

Running the battery down won't have any additional effect than switching the battery switch off for a few minutes.

One thing to test would be to re-install the Toshiba bootloader and boot the original firmware to see if the buttons behave as expected there.  If you see problems there then this indicates that there's probably a hardware problem behind this.
