File browsing: displaying ID3 tags instead of file names

(1/1)

taba:
Hello all,

when I'm browsing through directories, Rockbox displays all files with their file names, e.g. somefile.mp3. Is it possible to display the ID3 title tag instead if there is one, and fall back on the file name only if there is no ID3 tag? Some of the podcasts I subscribe to use rather cryptic file names and this would save me from having to rename them before I put them on my Sansa Clip+.

Thank you

I think this is already discussed in a lot of other threads... (if I recall correctly, there're even some mentions to this discussions on the wiki)

See if the database suits you, specially the custom view.

AlexP:
The file browser is a file browser, this means it shows file names.  If you want to browse by tags, use the database.

evilnick:
Maybe you could rename the files so that their filenames are understandable before putting them on the Sansa?
