Rockbox won't connect to Mac?
« on: December 08, 2010, 06:21:26 PM »
Hello, I've had Rockbox for a while and this is my first post to the forum. I just have one problem though. I used to have Rockbox installed on my 5.5 gen ipod video and it worked beautifully. I formatted my ipod recently and installed it once again. everything works fine but when i plug it into my computer via USB, the iPod allows me to control the volume on the computer (which it never did before) but doesn't show up in disk utility or finder. Is there a setting that is doing this or one that I'm missing?

Try turning off USB HID (the thing that does the volume controlling).  You don't mention what version you are using, but this can cause problems with some versions of OSX.

im using snow leopards. what's strange is that i can only connect if i put it in disk mode on my iMac. But if i connect it to my macbook (also running snow leopard) it shows up in finder. I suspected the USB HID option, but that didn't work. I een tried using other usb ports. if all else fails i can just put the iPod into disk mode when i need to connect it. thankyou
