mzew:
Hi! Thanks for developing Rockbox. I'm using it 2 years already.
I updated recently to new version of Rockbox 3.7.1 I'm bit disappointed.
1. Its' name became "Apple Rockbox media player"
Product ID:   0x1209
  Vendor ID:   0x05ac  (Apple Inc.)
  Version:    1.00
  Serial Number:   100000000000A2700159F06BB
  Speed:   Up to 480 Mb/sec
  Manufacturer:   Rockbox.org
  Location ID:   0x26400000
  Current Available (mA):   500
  Current Required (mA):   500
So now my MacBookPro does not recognizes it, nor iTunes.
with windows it mounts well.

Sounds like you have USB HID enabled. Disabling it will get OS X to see your iPod as a drive.

Go to Settings > General Settings > System > USB HID and set it to "No".

mzew:
With USB HID enabled I can control iTunes. I knew that before and disabled USB HID already.
In VmWare Fusion my ipod appears as "Apple Rockbox media player", no longer "Apple Ipod"
If I connect it to Win7 running in vmware it mounts successfully.

I have the same issue with an 80GB 5.5G and Rockbox 3.71 on Mac OS X 10.6.5 ... HID is disabled ... I have to boot into Apple firmware to transfer files, which is quite annoying. Mzew, have you been able to resolve this issue by now? Thanks ...

I have similar problems. I got my 5.5 ipod to mount on my mac osx and started to copy files to it. After I had been transferring files in aprox 10 min. it stopped suddenly and the disk unmounted. I havn't been able to mount it again in OSX.

But it mounts fine in windows when I start my virtual machine (I'm running windows 7 in Parallel (virtual pc) on my mac).
So I managed to copy the rest of the files via the virtual windows, but it was quite unstable, because as soon as I returned to the mac-interface, windows would stop copying and I had to start over again.

all the best
