White screen after installing on 2nd gen iPod

(1/2) > >>

okplayer:
This is a followup to the unresolved issue at http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=19540. Wanted to know if there is a resolution because I would love to use Rockbox.

Here is what I've done so far to resolve but to no avail:
Tried using the older bootloader (2.0).
Tried changing the contrast using the config.cfg as mentioned in a previous post.
Tried using different builds (went all the way back to 3.0)

Something I noticed was after an IPOD restore (using latest Itunes) and running the bootloader, there was a message after a IPOD restart that stated a Rockbox error has occurred and it could not find rockbox.ipod. So this message can be read but as soon as place .rockbox/rockbox.ipod (any version); after a restart the screen goes white (can vaguely decipher the highlighter moving as I scroll).

Does anyone have any other suggestions or is this just a lost cause for my IPOD?

Thanks in advance.

torne:
If you can vaguely see the highlight then it's almost certainly the contrast setting.. try the maximum value.

I tried "contrast: 99" and then tried to some other numbers like 69,79,89 but the contrast levels do not change. Also noticed that the config.cfg gets overwritten so I have to uninstall the bootloader.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

torne:
The 2nd gen ipod has contrast values from 5 to 63, with a default of 30. Try 63. Also, try 5. I'm not sure which end of the scale is which :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "the config.cfg gets overwritten". If you specify an invalid setting then it will be removed from the config file when Rockbox reads and resaves the config; if you were using values that were too big that may be it? I don't see what uninstalling the bootloader has to do with it, in any case...

yapper:
I think you need something high like the 63 that torne suggested.
