Not sure if Rockbox was properly installed
« on: November 29, 2010, 12:23:48 AM »
I thought I had installed Rockbox correctly on my new Clip+.
It was connected to my laptop and detected in the correct drive in Rockbox utility. I went through everything, custom installation and installing the bootloader without problems.
But it seems like Rockbox wasn't installed... Everything looks the same even though I installed a new theme. Is Rockbox loaded only when I press certain keys during the start up?
Sorry if this is a newb-ish question, but I'm just confused as to why it isn't working/loading

Thanks

Did you install the firmware as well as the bootloader?  Rockbox should load automatically when the unit gets booted.  Holding a certain key is only necessary to boot the original firmware.

I'm pretty sure I installed the firmware. I remember browsing for the OF and the Rockbox Utility accepting the file.
Or did I miss a step?

That's part of the bootloader installation. After you install the bootloader (or before, you can technically do it in either order) you must also choose to install Rockbox itself.

So in the Utility, under the Quick Start I've done Complete Installation several times. And under the Installation tab, I've done Install the bootloader and Install Rockbox.
Yet, I don't see Rockbox showing up.

Anything I forgot to do?

------Edit------
I actually figured out what was wrong, so no more problems with getting Rockbox.
But the music I've put on my Clip+ shows up in files, but not in database...

You need to refresh your database for the music to show up. You can do this manually, or you can select an option which makes Rockbox automatically look for music files each time you (re)boot your Clip.
