My Sansa Fuze is blocked
« on: November 27, 2010, 05:44:26 AM »
I have installed the last RockBox Firmware on my Sansa Fuze
when it starts, I see the Rock Box Logo and then

Loading firmware
Length: 81850
Checksum: 3412FC0
Model name: fuze
Loading rockbox.sansa
Sum: 3412FC0
Executing

And nothing more !!! it is blocked >:(
Windows is unable to recognize my Sansa Fuze (I tried under windows 7 and XP) : Unrecognize the new USB device

So I can't access the device to rollback the installation
What should I do ?

I think there's a magic button that you can hold during booting to make it boot the original firmware (OF). When booted in the original firmware you can place an original firmware file back into the root of the fuze file system and the player should flash itself back to the original firmware.

The magic button to hold for booting into the OF is probably mentioned in the user manual.

Make sure of the following when flashing it back:
* the fuze is in MSC mode, not in MTP mode
* there is plenty of battery power left (say > 70%) before flashing
* cleanly unmount the player ("safe hardware removal" or similar in windows)

I recommend checking the file system on the fuze after that and reformatting it (from within the player) when you find anything out of order.

Thanks a lot
The magic button is the left button, you got to hold it while booting

I can start the roll back

the rollback is done
Everything works well again

I'm scared to retry the Installation
Have you any idea of this dysfunction?
