Hello,
I bought a used H10, tested everything and it's been just peachy. A few days ago I installed RockBox and started learning to use it (it's very impressing!). The player came with a few gigs of files and I figured I'd wipe it clean to start fresh with Rockbox as well as give me an opportunity to properly tag my music files. Anyway, I formatted the player, installed Rockbox again, rebooted the drive and got the "System Files Missing" error.
After reading numerous posts here, and elsewhere, it's obvious to me that the thing to do is to use the recovery utility to reinstall to original iriver firmware and system files. My issue with this is I'm using Linux (Mint) and there is no way for me to do that. I've tried the recovery utility under Wine (Windows emulator) to no avail.
The player is always recognized when I connect it to my computer (and power on the player) so that isn't a problem.
Is there a way to restore system files under Linux AND even with Windows, does the recovery tool still work with iriver now gone (where would it download the necessary files)? Maybe I can use a friend's PC to use the recovery utility if that's still an option.
Thanks.
