iPod Nano 2nd Gen and revision 28618
gbl08ma:
I was browsing through the SVN viewer at http://svn.rockbox.org to see the latest changes of the SVN code, and on the build #28618, the log message reads:
--- Quote ---Correct supported sample rates for iPod nano 2G, at least prepares the manual for recording on this target.
--- End quote ---
(as you can confirm here: http://svn.rockbox.org/viewvc.cgi?view=rev&revision=28618 )
I own an exemplar of the referred model and, AFAIK and unfortunately, it doesn't support any kind of recording (not even through the line-in as it happens with the 2st Gen Nano).
So, if it doesn't support recording, why does the manual include a section for the recording sample rate if it doesn't have the recording option? On the message log, it reads "at least prepares the manual for recording on this target". So, does it mean it's possible to record on this target and there is work planned on it (or at least waiting for someone interested)?
Is this a mistake, or should Nano 2G really have a section in the supported recording sample rate list?
(I'm so confused...)

Might want to take a look at the manual. Theres no section on recording since its not enabled yet ;)

I looked at the manual, and I confirmed what I already knew: there's no recording section nor on the manual, nor on the software itself - and AFAIK, there will never be since Nano 2G hardware doesn't support any kind of recording (nor it does have FM radio so it can record from radio). But if that's true, why does the recording sample rate have a Nano 2G section on the manual (although it's not compiled), and more than that, why did it need to be corrected in #28618, if it doesn't record?
When I first looked at the message in SVN, I thought "great, they found a way to record on nano 2G!" But then I got to the forums and nothing...
Chronon:
I think you are making unwarranted assumptions. Based on the wiki page for this player, there is an ADC with partially working driver. saratoga merely said that recording is not enabled for this player yet.

Sorry for that - my fault. From everything I have read in the forum and on other places, I got the idea that recording on Nano 2nd Gen was impossible due to hardware limitations. Also, I don't think that some time ago the Wiki page talked about Recording.
Is recording on Nano 2nd Gen a new discovery, or am I wrong again?
If it's possible to record, then does anybody know what "type" of recording is supported? By "type" I mean, only line in from dock connector, or also line in from 3,5mm jack? Or both? :D
Thanks for all the patience... also, thanks for letting me know all what Recording on the Nano 2G is waiting for is an interested developer (or is anybody working on this already?). If nobody's working on this, I might take a look at the code to see what can I do...
