ipod video 30gb and windows 7 problem - not showing in Explorer anymore

(1/1)

tp71:
I'm on RB 3.6 and added some files maybe a few weeks ago to my ipod from my main Windows 7x64 box, as usual.

Nothing has changed in that time on the pc, except that Itunes upgraded yesterday (would never even tolerate itunes at all if it weren't for my wifes iphone).

I don't do automatic updates so nothing new from Microsoft...

Now when i try to initialize my ipod, it doesn't show up in Explorer. It shows up in the device manager (under portable devices) but not in  Windows Explorer.

I plugged the ipod into an XP box and it initialized just fine.

I went ahead and uninstalled itunes just in case but it's still not listing in Explorer.

All my other usb devices are recognized and listed as usual in Explorer.

Based on other posts I've read, I also turned off usb HID....

Any ideas?

I'm having this issue too.  Upgraded to 3.7 just fine, didn't plug it into the computer for a week or so, now it's connecting on the ipod's end, but my PC isn't recognizing it.

Also not an iTunes issue since I've never installed that wretched software on this computer.

tp71: If it shows up under Portable Devices it sounds like it's being recognized as an MTP device instead of MSC.  Are you connecting with Rockbox's USB mode or with Apple's firmware?  (What is displayed on the screen while it's connected?)

Walrus: Since it doesn't sound like your PC has any knowledge of your device I would first try to eliminate factors in the data path.  Ensure that the cable and port are functioning properly, etc.  I have had cables go out on me suddenly and without warning and this sort of behavior could be attributed to that.

Definitely was connecting the usb while booted into RB and then it was the RB screen being displayed when connected.

Nevermind me though! I hadn't tried connecting since my original go around, so just tried it again right now, and it's working again. Nothing changed in that time, other than I added some files to the ipod from my XP laptop.
